The PT Motorsport IO Expander Mini2 is a CAN bus IO expander that adds 8 analog inputs, 8 digital inputs and 8 pulsed outputs to an ECU or PDM with a programmable CAN bus. CAN speed, base IDs and mode are set in PT’s companion app, and firmware updates are loaded from the same app.
What’s Included
– PT Motorsport IO Mini2 board
– 3D printed case with mounting hardware – 4 mounting options
– 3x 4-position, 2x 5-position and 2x 6-position connectors (not soldered to the board)
– 34 terminals
Specifications
– Analog inputs: 8, reading 0-5 V. 12 V tolerant, but readings clip at 5 V.
– Analog pull-ups: optional 1 kΩ per input, enabled by bridging solder pads on the underside
– Digital inputs: 8, 0-12 V, 0-60,000 Hz, 0-100% duty. Pull-ups switchable in the app.
– Pulsed outputs: 8, 0-60,000 Hz, 0-100% duty, 500 mA limit per output
– Output frequency is shared in pairs: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8
– CAN: speed, TX and RX base address, RX timeout and mode set in the app
– CAN terminating resistor: built in, enabled by bridging a solder pad
– LED: Neopixel on the board, plus an output pad for an external LED string
– Firmware: updatable. Current firmware supports hardware version 1.2.
Notes
CAN modes:
– 0: PT Motorsport custom stream
– 1: Haltech IO12A
– 2: Haltech IO12B
– 3: Haltech IO12A and IO12B – keep CAN TX at 20 Hz or higher
– 4: Haltech IO16A
– 5: Haltech IO16B
– 6: ECU Master CAN Switchboard v3
– 7: MoTeC E888
– 8: Emtron – listed as a stub in firmware v0.0.8, contact us before ordering for an Emtron install
Compatible ECUs: MaxxECU, Haltech PS, Elite and Nexus, Link G4+, G4X and G5, ECU Master Pro, ADU and PMU, MoTeC, Emtron. MaxxECU and Link read it as a user-defined CAN stream.
